Our office helps veterans with government-issued grave markers, acquiring DD214’s for departments or funeral homes to order military honors, and we will assist in filling out applications.
Huron County Veteran's Memorial Benefits
Our office will search for document at the appropriate sources to verify services for necessary funeral arrangements.
Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk, Ohio and Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio have graves located in veterans’ sections.
Upon due process, the Huron County Veteran Service Commission assists a veteran to cover the expense of his/her funeral if no savings or insurance can be provided by themselves or their family. Legally, the Huron County Veteran Service Commission may not exceed $999 in financial aid.

VA Federal Burial Benefits
Veteran was in receipt of pension or compensation from the VA or died in a VA facility or VA contracted nursing home.
The VA provides a U.S. flag at no cost, to drape the casket of a veteran who served honorably in the armed forces. The funeral home can arrange this for you.
The VA provides the Grave Marker at no charge. We will assist in filling out the application. The Huron County Veteran Services Commission will reimburse $60 of the setting fees of the marker. Please provide paid invoice to the Huron County Veteran Office.
A certificate which bears the current President's signature expressing the country's grateful recognition of the veteran's service in the armed forces. Applications are taken daily in our office. Supplied by the VA.
